Curriculum
Saint Rose
Academy's curriculum is designed to provide a solid foundation for all students,
regardless of their post-graduation goals. We combine strong academic formation with an emphasis on Spiritual development in the Catholic tradition. Each of our teachers is fully certified in their subject area, and our texts are aligned to Pennsylvania state standards.
St. Rose Academy uses Prentice Hall Interactive texts, which expand the resources available to teachers and students. PowerPoint presentations, test generators, practice exercises, lesson activities, videos, and links to related websites are among the many supplemental resources available to teachers and students.
With these tools at their fingertips, teachers can reach students with different
learning styles by creating lessons and assignments which are interesting and informative. And students have multiple opportunities and methods for learning concepts which may be difficult for them.

Technology in
the SRA Classroom
At St. Rose Academy, you won't find a single blackboard
or piece of chalk.
In each SRA classroom, “Interactive”
textbooks, SmartBoards, digital projectors, large screen TVs, networked
computers, and high-speed internet give students of all learning styles
a better opportunity to learn.
The result: a
more productive classroom experience, and improved student performance.

"We, ourselves, are competing for
the attention of students who take for granted
a multi-media,
interactive…information environment.
Chalk and talk mean little to
them… [o]ur information must glow.”

The
administration and faculty of St. Rose Academy recognize that proper preparation
for class and homework are vital parts of the academic process. Parents and
students should understand that this work includes not only worksheets, math
problems and unit questions, but also projects, essays, studying reading,
reviewing, journaling, memorization, or other assignments. Each of these
activities can be a catalyst for student creativity and critical thinking.
Homework improves students’ organizational skills, which will, in turn, enable
them to be successful in life.
The SRA
Academic Assistance Lab is held from 3:15 to 4:15
on Tuesdays and Thursdays when necessary and dependent on teacher
availability. The
Lab provides an academic atmosphere for students to complete homework
assignments, and receive faculty assistance and input. Any student may choose
to stay after school to use the Academic Assistance Lab provided they have prior
parental permission.
Students who
are negligent in completing homework will be assigned to the Academic Assistance
Lab in order to make up all missing work. Parents will be notified that the
student must report to the next scheduled Academic Assistance Lab to complete
all missing homework or remedial work assigned. Students must submit the
completed work to the teacher monitoring the Lab by the end of that period, or
report to the next lab in order to complete it. Teachers will give credit for
work completed.
When a student
is assigned to the Lab to complete missing work, attendance is mandatory, and
takes precedence over athletics, club meetings, and other extra-curricular
activities. Unexcused absences from the lab will result in a discipline
detention and a lab reassignment. Parents are responsible for arranging
transportation home from the lab; students should be picked up no later than
4:20
